CAIRO, June 29 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended on Saturday the signing ceremony of a project to produce 100 megawatt of green hydrogen at Ain Sokhna port.

The project agreement is clinched by Fertiglobe, Scatec, Orascom Construction and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt on the sidelines of Egypt-EU Investment Conference that kicked off earlier in the day.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla, Planning Minister Hala el Saeed, International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat and other senior officials.

Executive President of the fund Ayman Soliman said the project aims at producing 13,000 tons of green hydrogen annually as feedstock for production of up to 70,000 tons of green ammonia.

The project also includes the establishment of 270 MW solar energy and wind energy plants to be used in hydrogen electrolysis and ammonia manufacturing, he said.

The experimental stage of the project was launched during COP27 global climate change conference in Sharm el Sheikh in 2022. (MENA)
